Friday's Faux Paw

I am tired of looking at orange humans! I’m talking about you Snooki and many others! Yes for those who don’t know, dogs can see in colour although not as many colours as humans can. Before you get too high on yourselves, know that dogs can smell and hear things way better than humans so I think that kind of makes up for the whole colour situation. At any rate, I am not quite sure why a human would want to look like a fruit. I know that orange is the au courant colour, but as a skin tone it just looks bad. Certain spray tans and self-tanners are the culprits behind this growing epidemic. I am not suggesting you suntan or fake bake instead because both things age you prematurely. So a spray tan or self tanner is the way to go. If you head out to get air-brushed, try going somewhere that is recommended by friends who don’t look orange. If you do it yourself, research which self-tanners will give you a natural look. Try some as a test on a small area before you do your whole body and remember to exfoliate thoroughly first so you don’t look streaked.

Caroline Rocha - Making One-Of-Kind Jewelry

This is a sponsored post.

When I was approached by Caroline Rocha to pick out two of her cuffs I was super happy! Then when I saw that each piece is one-of-a-kind and freaking gorgeous it took me at least an hour to make my final decision. But as you will see by my photos, I think I chose well.

For those who haven’t heard of Caroline Rocha, she is a jewelry designer from San Luis Obispo, California. She uses real Swarovski crystals on all of her cuffs, leather, and paint to make the most beautiful cuffs that are individual as the women who wear them.

In 2009, starting a business was not something that was at the forefront of Caroline’s mind. Her creative outlets included painting on large canvases and sculpting, and she always had new ideas bubbling over. She began making bracelets with the concept of being able to wear pieces of art. Her intention was to create these pieces for herself, friends, and family. After a few months, her sisters encouraged her to increase production and set a price. She was so honored by the response, and from there her business began to grow. She is in love with this whole process and constantly inspired and learning every day.

When Caroline looks out and see God’s beauty, she is in awe—the twists of a tree, the colors of a rock, the movement of a bird. It what inspires her to make her gorgeous cuffs. She uses real leather and hand picks it herself. 100% of the bracelets are made in her studio. She has a team of trusted people who help in the production process. They start by cutting the leather, then she hand paints each and every one. Once the leather is painted each cuff is adorned with Swarovski crystals; the process of applying the crystals is her little secret, but each one is placed by hand to best accentuate each individual design. No two cuffs are alike. You truly need to check them out yourself so head here.

“I know that everyone has a uniqueness and a beauty to them that is theirs alone, and when I am creative, I feel like I have tapped into something that has been given to me. I fell whole. I love to look outside and see the greenery and the different shades of the earth, the movement and the grace of the things around us. We have an awesome God.” – Caroline Rocha

I love her quotation and I feel unique and beautiful when I wear her pieces. I am so honoured to share some of her stunning cuffs with you.

To be the first to see her new creations follow along on her Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Tuesday's OOTW - Have 'Em Eating Outta The Palm Of Your Hand!

I am loving the palm print trend so much that this is my second go at it. My first palm OOTW is here. I immediately fell in love with this dress and had to have it. I think that green and pink is awesome together. I’m also crushing on my new pink sunnies but unfortunately Tim (my husband) hates them. He is pretty conservative and these sunglasses are far from conservative indeed. At least he likes my dress though because it is going to be on repeat this summer. And last but not least my favourite summer wedges. They look a lot like the Marc Jacobs version but less than half price. Maybe that’s why I’m smiling in the photos. Nah. It’s because of the dress.

Do you like palm prints? Let me know in the comments below.

Sisa &Co. - A Fashion Accessory Company

This is a sponsored post.

When I was approached by Sisa &Co. to try out some of their accessories, I was happy to oblige. Sisa &Co is a young start up fashion accessory line that was created by two sisters who wanted to use their creative differences by building something together. Diana the older of the two has been an entrepreneur for many years, dedicated her time to making beautiful one of a kind fashion jewelry before venturing into business with her younger sister. Paula studied broadcast journalism which turned into an active career in film, blog writing, and marketing.

Often told that their personalities are like “night and day”, they decided to showcase this in their products and prove that two complete opposites can ultimately complement each other. They believed that there was no better way to show this than to pick out two very different fabrics and put them together to create a unique and beautiful piece. You will find that this duality is a common theme throughout all of our products. All products are handmade by them, here in their hometown of Mississauga, Ontario. Complementing your outfit with Vans is a really good idea, specially when you are looking for a more comfy and casual look.

The first piece I decided to try was the SubLIME scarf (such a great name). I love how it has the bright lime on the one side and blue polka dots outlined with lime on the other side. So fun!

I immediately fell in love with the Gold Art Deco Earrings. I have been having a huge boho moment as of late and needed to add these to my collection. Photos simply don’t do them justice!

Chokers are still going strong so I chose this cute Obsidian Gold Choker. Other than being ever so chic it is also reversible! You can wear it on the black with gold sparkles side or for all out bling you can wear the gold side.

Tuesday's OOTW - Palm Springs

Well I am wearing a palm print dress and it’s spring. Yeah I know. I have to get some sleep.

Anyhow, I was madly in love with this print when I saw it on a t-shirt dress at Old Navy. Then I was sad because the t-shirt dress was WAY too short on me. When I saw the same print on this dress online, I knew I had to add it to my closet but it was sold out. Then they got more in stock and I ended up snagging it for 50% off. I guess some things are just meant to be. I could have worn my green purse with it, but at the last minute I decided to go with the light blue because the leaves have a light blue shade in them as well. And I’m loving the big, tassel earring trend right now so I’m glad I bought this pair in my favourite green colour. Are you loving the palm leaf print trend as well? Let me know in the comments below.

Tuesday's OOTW - Flower Power

I just got back from Saskatoon on Sunday night and I’m still catching up on sleep. For my Mom being a senior, she is way busier than me! Her and James (my toddler) got along great. To save the environment we need to find a way of using them as a power source.

I definitely have jumped on the embroidery trend in a big way so when I saw this dress, I had to have it. I thought it is a wee bit short for someone of my uhm *cough* age. Then I thought I’m going to rock it anyway. The great news is that I can also wear it into fall with some leggings or over the knee boots. But for now I brazenly am rocking bare legs and my wine booties with this embroidered beauty. One great thing about being over forty is that I care less and less with each passing year what others think. So would you say “yes” to this dress? Let me know in the comments below.

Friday's Faux Paw

legginguggsgirl

I wish female humans would understand that leggings are to be worn UNDER something as in a dress, skirt, long tunic, etc. When you wear them as pants, you look like you forgot the rest of your outfit. You look even more ridiculous when said leggings have a sheen to them like the aerobic spandex pants of the 80’s. I wasn’t alive then, but Joelle assures me it was truly a scary time fashion wise. And those that do not have perfect bodies, (which are most of us) or have a bit of “junk in the trunk”, when you walk it looks like two pigs fighting in a sack. I really don’t need to see this and no one else does either. So please be kind to the environment and mankind (and us dogs) and cover up your bumper. Not only will you look better, I will not want to bite your bum thinking it’s alive.

The block heeled shoe craze has now turned into the block heeled sandal craze. You really don’t have to spend a fortune on a pair as I got a really comfortable pair for under $40 at Old Navy. As they are almost sold out, here is a very similar pair:

Tuesday's OOTW - All The Teals.

I love all shades of green but I had forgotten that I owned this skirt. When I found it while cleaning out my closet, I was super happy to find a cardigan (also in my closet) that matched it. I mean the odds were that I would find a cardigan that would match it as I am The Cardi Queen – yeah I have that many cardigans. They take up an entire rack in my closet! And I decided to make an effort and do my hair in a top knot. I was also doing some serious multitasking as I was watching for cars so they didn’t hit my husband/photographer who had to stand on the road to take photos of me. How do you feel about teal? Let me know in the comments below.
