Essie's 2014 Resort Collection And ObsessedLook.Com

This is a sponsored post.

When I was approached by ObsessedLook.Com to try out two shades of Essie’s 2014 Resort Collection, I was super excited. For one I love Essie’s polishes because they are gorgeous colours that last a long time without chipping. Secondly, I love finding out about new ways to get beauty products delivered right to my door. This is where ObsessedLook.Com comes into the picture. This is a Canadian company that ships for free, that’s right, free shipping with no minimum purchase. And their prices are super reasonable as well as the shipping was fast. I think I’m in love! Each nail polish is $8.95 CAN on their website and $30 CAN for all four shades.

So here’s Essie’s 2014 Resort Collection:

Find Me An Oasis, Cocktails & Coconuts, Under The Twilight, & Resort Fling

I decided to take Cocktails & Coconuts and Resort Fling for a test drive. First up is Cocktails & Coconuts which is a beautiful beige putty coloured neutral with tiny silver sparkles in it. It’s truly the perfect shade to wear with all the neon and bright coloured clothing we are seeing for summer. This shade would also look great in the evening with a sparkly gold top coat over top. I ended up doing two coats with it but even one coat looked rather pretty.

Next is Resort Fling. When I first saw the colour, it looked so yummy I wanted to eat it! Coral and peach are everywhere this summer so this nail polish is right on trend. It is a light, peach colour that is shiny but has no sparkles. I did two coats with this shade because with one coat it was barely noticeable. If you want an even darker colour, this polish dries so quickly that you could do three coats in no time.

Hope this post gives you some great colour ideas for your nails this summer!

Friday's Faux Paw

Working out is a great way to combat aging, have more energy, and stay thin – so great that humans have special outfits to do it in. I workout everyday too by running around the yard, going for walks, and playing a mean game of tug o’ war or frisbee. Then a company came along that rhymes with “foofoo zemin” and decided it’s okay to wear workout gear shopping, doing errands, to work, family functions, and *gasp* to church. THIS IS NOT OKAY! Workout gear belongs on humans when they are working out! And from what I’ve seen, many of the humans who are wearing workout gear haven’t been working out and shouldn’t be wearing anything form fitting. Those who follow a brand because everyone else does are sheeple – people who are sheep. At least throw on a pair of jeans. People will respect you more.

CND Vinylux Summer Paradise Collection - Cloudy Day, Sunny Nails

This is a sponsored post.

I was very fortunate that CND supplied me with three beautiful Vinylux nail shades from their Summer 2014 Paradise Collection to play with – Lush Tropics (a bright matte green), Electric Orange (a bright matte orange), Bicycle Yellow (a bright yellow with yellow sparkles), and their Weekly Top Coat (Shown below. I bought the CND ScrubFresh Nail Surface Cleaner myself for $20 CAN and the artist’s brush and cotton pads are mine too.) So I gathered everything below together to create some nail art on this rainy afternoon.

If you don’t already know about CND Vinylux, here is the low-down

– VINYLUX™ is a revolutionary weekly polish system offering durable, high-shine and week-long wear

– Innovative system includes a self-adhering Color Coat that eliminates the need for a Base Coat, and a Top Coat with new ProLight Technology, a breakthrough technology developed by CND that enhances durability with exposure to natural light over time

– In consumer testing of hundreds of manicures, more than 80 percent of clients had no chipping after 7 days

–  VINYLUX™ dries completely in just 8.5 minutes compared to the standard nail polish that dries in 15-20 minutes on average

– VINYLUX currently has 76 fashion-forward polish colours to suit weekly desires, over 60 colours match popular CND Shellac™ shades, for at-home touchups and pedicures.

– VINYLUX™ removes easily with an acetone-based polish remover in just one minute

– You can buy VINYLUX™ for $11.90-$13.00 Canadian

Now it’s time for the fun!

First I moistened a cotton pad with CND ScrubFresh Nail Surface Cleaner and removed all the dirt and oil off my nails so the polish will adhere better and therefore last as long as possible. I am also enjoying my jasmine green tea which I am addicted to.

Next I painted all of my nails with Electric Orange except for the ring finger because I want it to be a different accent nail. I ended up doing three coats to make my nails really pop!

Then it was time to do my accent ring fingers with Bicycle Yellow which I also did three coats.

LOVING it!

Now the nail art begins. I’m no nail artist by any means, but I had to try something cool. I took some plastic wrap and dotted some Lush Tropics on it. Then I grabbed my nail brush and painted some horizontal lines on the Bicycle Yellow nails.

Then I cleaned my brush off with polish remover and took some Electric Orange and dotted it on the plastic wrap. Grabbing my art brush I painted orange lines between each of the green lines.

IMG_0509

Actually this nail art for me was super easy. You should really try it yourself!

IMG_0510

Now to seal the deal with CND Vinlux Weekly Top Coat which adds a ton of shine and helps make your mani go the distance!

IMG_0518

And there you go! I’m totally ready for summer now!

IMG_0521

This was so easy and fun I will have to go shopping for more colours soon! NOTE: There are also three more colours in CND’s Paradise CollectionSultry Sunset, Cerulean Sea, and Tango Passion shown in order below.

Tuesday's OOTW - Leopard & Turquoise

Today is such a gorgeous day that my guy and I went browsing at a garden centre. We both love looking at plants together, so arm in arm we took in some amazing greenery. We wish we would win a lottery so we could totally landscape our backyard making it into a meditation garden. Someday…

I love animal prints – especially leopard. I like them best when they are done in the same colour the animal is ie black and white for zebra print, brown and black for leopard, etc. To add some interest (and because I love me some colour) I grabbed my turquoise purse and threw on a turquoise necklace and bracelets. Also I did my toenails in Electric Orange care of the great folks at CND – nail tutorial coming up Thursday with three of their great Vinylux summer shades.
