Friday Faux Paw

Everything was going great until I saw it. I thought it was a huge bug, but on closer inspection it was a human female wearing oversized sunglasses. I speak for many guys (and gals too) that huge, round shades make you look silly –  not fashionable. Just because J-Lo, Paris Hilton, Nicole Ritchie, and others wear them and look awful, I guess regular women think it’s a good idea. So are you going to be married three times, drive the wrong way down a free-way, and make a sex tape for everyone to see too? I didn’t think so. So then ditch the buggy sunnies! It’s not cool to look like a giant bug, unless you are one.

Accessory Insanity - An Edmonton Accessory Truck

This is a sponsored post.

I was super excited to find out that there is a truck here in Edmonton called Accessory Insanity that drives around to local events carrying super cute jewelry, purses, hats, wallets, and luggage tags. For people who live elsewhere, you don’t have to miss out. You can order online and there is free shipping over $100 to Canada and the US. Otherwise shipping is only $8 in Canada and between $10 to $20 depending on the size of your order. And for lucky folks who live in Alberta, you can get free shipping by using the code FashionTruck when you check out. And here’s something else that is super cool. You can host an office party and earn 10-20% of the total party sales in merchandise. For more inquiries on hosting a party, email info@AccessoryInsanity.com.

IMG_9727Beep-beep! Ronda’s bringing the accessories.

IMG_9732Shopping time!

I had the pleasure to meet Ronda, the owner of Accessory Insanity and pick out some free goodies for myself. She is at the South Common Farmer’s Market most weekends but for where to find the truck any time click here. She told me that she first started the Accessory Insanity website six years ago but it wasn’t until last summer she got the truck up and running. What does she feel that’s most important for her business?

Two words. Customer Service. I personally take the time to answer every email and I strive to put myself in the shoes of the customer while I do this. How would I expect to be treated? What would I expect out of this company? I try to make sure everyone that sends an inquiry gets a personal reply within a few hours. It works amazing! Everyone appreciates a speedy, informed, personal response. (Taken from her website www.accessoryinsanity.com)

And when trying to set up a time to meet her at her truck, Ronda did respond super quickly to all my emails. She’s so friendly!  You can also check Accessory Insanity out on Facebook.

Tuesday's OOTW - Capris and Trees

So this is what happens when I don’t do my hair – I become carefree and climb a tree to relax and be at one with nature. Or maybe I’m just trying not to fall out of a tree and regret my not-very-well-thought-out decision a wee bit. (Thanks for helping me down with the ladder, Tim.) Of course I’m trying to look good while I’m doing it in my pretty floral top and bright coral capris. I’m still thoroughly enjoying my comfy lace-up flats. You really can’t climb a tree in heels after all…

Friday's Faux Paw

This is a tricky faux paw to master. It takes some time and energy, being truly honest with yourself and possibly enlisting some professional help. What I’m speaking about is wearing the correct colours for your skin tone, hair colour, and eye colour. If you don’t know your correct colours you run the risk of wearing a colour that washes you out, or makes you look older, tired or ill. And who wants that? There are different ways of accomplishing this, but the most popular is finding out your colours by season based on the book Color Me Beautiful by Carole Jackson. If you want to try and figure out what colours look the best on you head here to take a test to find out what season you are and therefore which colours will look their best on you. Colours are usually divided into two categories – warm which has spring and autumn, and cool which has summer and winter. Autumn has the same colours as spring but they are darker and more intense and winter has the same colours as summer but are darker and more intense plus winter includes black and white. It’s also super easy to rule out whether or not you’re a winter. All you need to do is hold up something black, then hold up something pure white. If you look awful with both, then you aren’t a winter because only a person with winter colouring can wear a true black or white. It’s okay if colours from both warm seasons autumn and spring look good on you, or colours from both cool seasons winter and summer look good on you. However colours from warm seasons will generally not look good on someone with cool colouring and vice versa. Joelle and I both know our colours. Joelle is a spring who can wear some autumn colours and I am a winter. Master this and you won’t receive this rating:

What's In My Handbag?

I must admit I am a very nosy person. I always love it when bloggers give me a glimpse inside their handbag. Why? I like recommendations for new beauty products and like I said I’m just plain nosy. So here’s what I lug around every day.

Contents Of Cosmetic Bag

In my make-up bag: Paula’s Choice Lip & Body Treatment Balm – the BEST lip balm EVER!!, Eucerin Aquaphor, generic broken nail file (why do the handles break off all the time?), Goody Mini Hair Brush, Oral-B Glide Dental Floss, Bath & Body Works Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel in Caribbean Escape, NYC City Proof Twistable Intense Lip Color in #041 Ballroom Blush, Rimmel Lasting Colour Rush Balm in Lady Marmalade, Revlon Nail Clippers – all housed in a cute leopard-print make-up bag that I do not remember where I purchased it. Yes, I have had it that long.

Contents Of Purse

In my handbag: Wallet from a long ago purse show, Contigo Water Bottle – the only water bottle you will ever see me carrying, assorted candies mostly from restaurants, Fisherman’s Friends – my must have as a singer, my keys – the croc key chain says “I<3 Tim”, and my crappy Moto E cellphone that needs to be replaced. It has no storage, a crappy camera, and crashes every time I try to post a Snapchat video – in short a fashion blogger’s nightmare.

Well that’s it. Not very glamorous I’m afraid. Now do you know me better? What do you have in your handbag that you cannot live without? Please share in the comments below.

Tuesday's OOTW - Romping To The Tropics

When I saw this romper online I fell in love with it immediately. I love the tropical look of it and the fact that it has a pink and green pattern. I just adore that colour combination! Then I went online again to purchase it and it was sold out.  I guess others liked it a lot too. So I went to Old Navy and there was only one left in my size so I snapped it up. Together with some thrifted Guess shoes, I’m both comfy and stylish! Another plus – it’s easy to take off when I need to head to the washroom. Yay!!!

Friday's Faux Paw

When the moon hits my eye like a big pizza pie… you’d better pull up your pants!! This week I have seen far too many butt cracks to mention. One is actually too many. The worst thing is that so far all of them have been men. However that doesn’t mean that women don’t do it too. It’s also a fashion faux paw for the fairer sex. This is simple to fix. Buy pants that fit you. And for the ladies, buy pants that have a higher rise. Don’t make me howl at your moon!

Closet Relay

This is a sponsored post.

I had the pleasure of being invited to a blogger party to celebrate the launch of a new app for iPhone users called Closet Relay.

closet relayListening to how to use the app.

Have you heard of it? If not here’s the details taken form their website:

Closet Relay is a free app designed to help users buy & sell once loved clothing within local communities. Get it on the iTunes App Store in Canada. Closet Relay is for community to buy & sell gently used clothing. It’s for downsizing, those on a budget, wanting to sell items because they have value but no other outlet will take them. We aim to help users saving and making money, for men and women who are budget conscious and want to earn money back from items in their closet that no longer fits their style or closet anymore. Closet Relay is about creating community that is aware of their budgets and create a social movement of people giving back to one another in a conscious and meaningful way that positively impacts each other and the environment. Closet Relay aims to help users buy and sell gently used clothing, empower their entrepreneurship is a small but meaningful way. We want to create a social movement of people helping each other within their community while helping the environment.

closet relayHanging with the gals!

Sound great? I think so. Closet Relay’s creator Ria Mizera created the app so she could clean out her closet, get some cash, AND save the environment. She says that it’s also a super fun way to meet like-minded fashion people in your area when you pick up your new found fashion item. And don’t fret Android users. Ria hopes to have this app ready for you by spring 2017.  For more information you can visit their website, and follow along on Facebook, InstagramTwitter, and Vimeo.

Friday's Faux Paw

ameliaThe bad news is that this faux paw will make you look older and sickly. The good news is that it’s relatively simple to fix. I speak of the dreaded too dark hair colour. As you get older you lose colour in your face so the hair colour you choose can’t be too dark. You will know it’s too dark if you look older, washed out, tired, and sick. If you’re not sure if your hair is too dark, ask someone who will be brutally honest with you (I’m available) or a stylist who knows their stuff. If you’re too scared to ask someone, keep this rule in mind. Try going two shades lighter than your usual colour. Look in the mirror and see if you look younger, vibrant, awake, and healthy. If so, then you’ve succeeded in finding the right colour. The colour that may now look best on you may be lighter than your natural colour and this is okay. If you still don’t look your best continue to go lighter or get some well placed streaks until you look great.

Tuesday's OOTW - Shoulder Smolder

Hope everyone in Canada and the US enjoyed the long weekend! Unfortunately I was (and still am) very sick with strep. Luckily I’m ahead of things these days so I can bring you an outfit that was shot previously. I am not big on showing my shoulders because they are not body parts that I am proud of as my posture isn’t the best. But I do love a lot of the off-shoulder tops I’ve been seeing so I snatched this one up on eBay. It has two ties so you can make a bow on the front, but I wanted to show off my necklace instead, so I tucked the ties in. I kept my look crisp by adding a pair of white shorts and gold cut-out oxfords. Is this a look you would wear?

Friday's Faux Paw

How to Fix a Panty Hose Run thumbnail

This should be an obvious one but in the last week I have seen two women fall prey to this faux paw. When you don’t pay attention, your otherwise gorgeous outfit gets taken down a few pegs. I’m talking about the dreaded run in your nylons/tights/pantyhose – whatever you are calling them nowadays. Check your outfit in front of a full length mirror before you leave your house each day. Once you get into this habit, you will most likely notice other things out of place before you have someone like me point it out to you. Throw some clear nail polish in your purse to stop runs before they are visible – hairspray works in a pinch and carry a spare pair in case the damage is visible. It’s always a good idea to check your nylons throughout the day as nasty snags can turn into a run when adjusting them during a washroom break. A quick spin in front of the washroom mirror should do it.  If you find that all of this is too much work, then go without nylons. Trust me it looks better than a set of train tracks running down your leg screaming out for my one poo rating.

Oh yes – Happy Birthday, Canada!!
